Fight Club Monthly (June 2026 newsletter)

The latest updates from the leading global wargaming community

There’s a new sheriff… sorry …editor in town!

Hi everyone, my name is Rwizi Rweizooba Ainomugisha. I’m a proud Fight Club member (Author Badge Silver) and the Editor-in-Chief at Wargaming Weekly.

The Fight Club International board of directors has recently bestowed upon me the immense honor of taking over the curating, editing and publishing of our newsletter.

My first order of business? Changing the newsletter’s frequency from quarterly to monthly.

So on that note, welcome to the inaugural edition of Fight Club Monthly!

HERE’S THE QUICK SUMMARY

·         TAKE THAT HILL is now on Steam for wishlisting!

·         Sweeping Satellites is about to launch, support it!

WHAT HAS FIGHT CLUB BEEN UP TO THIS MONTH?

TAKE THAT HILL is now on Steam for wishlisting! In partnership with Hunted Cow Studios and Hex War, Fight Club continues to take Phil Sabin's original design to the next level as a wargame primer. You can also check out my recent review of the print ‘n’ play version.

The proof of Sweeping Satellites has arrived and we are nearly at the launch point! You can still support the game.

Flashpoint Command Exercise went live. It’s a collaborative brigade-level planning and execution event using Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War.

Op GULF SHIELD went live. It’s a digital IAMD wargame set in the Persian Gulf, where you defend five countries against a multi-axis Iranian saturation strike. Register, log in, play!

Take That Bridge! Command a company of troops and seize a defended bridge before the enemy can destroy it. The game is inspired by Phil Sabin’s unpublished ‘Paratrooper’ game and this paper titled Kill Zone Probability Field Theory Applied to a Simple Fire and Maneuver Wargame by Trevor C. Lipscombe and Ian M. Robinson.

MEDEVAC, our first medical-themed wargame, is now live with a Tabletop Simulator module. Medical aspects of modern warfare are too often ignored, even in professional wargames. The tough dilemmas and trade-offs it explores are exactly the conversations we need to have before the war starts...

Fusion and Fission, an abstract, asymmetric counterinsurgency (COIN) game that was developed after reading this academic paper is now live!

Our Wargame Design Repository went live. Stuck with a wargame design task you can’t seem to crack? Just ask this Notebook with 40+ resources from the greats: playtest frameworks, scenario templates, historical case studies, and recorded talks to sharpen your designs. Perfect for designers, instructors, and hobbyists.

WHAT’S NEW TO WATCH, LISTEN & READ?

Fight Club member Sam Katz explains “Road to War”, the game system he has 'vibe coded' to act as a long term Force Design/Force Management simulation with periodic 'operations' using Command Modern Operations.

Think.Fight.Learn.Repeat. Episode 10: Task Force Maven with Col Arnel David. Director of Task Force Maven at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Colonel Arnel David has spent years at the intersection of AI and national defence. In this episode, we break down what Task Force Maven really is, why multinational AI deployment is harder than it sounds, and what the ethical debates inside defence institutions actually look like, versus how they're portrayed publicly.

Think.Fight.Learn.Repeat. Episode 11: Training for Arctic Warfare with Dylan Abbott. Dylan Abbott is an instructor at the Canadian Army's Advanced Warfare Centre, where he teaches Arctic warfare and survival. In this episode, we cover the most common mistakes soldiers make when they first encounter the Arctic, why small errors can become life-threatening problems fast, how much equipment actually matters versus skills and discipline, and what modern forces still get wrong about operating in the high north.

Think.Fight.Learn.Repeat. Episode 12: Repurposing the British Army with Nick Moran. Western Armies are trying to do too many things with too few resources. That's not a controversial statement, in fact it's the opening line of a paper that's been turning heads in defence circles since it landed in April 2026. In this episode, we sit down with Nick Moran, a 20-year British Army veteran who served in the Special Mission Unit community, with NATO, and alongside the Royal Gurkha Rifles, to dig into his RealClearDefense piece, Repurposing the British Army.

Procurement: The First Battle by Ed Farren. A development diary on turning defence acquisition into a playable contest of ambition, scarcity, institutional pressure, and uncertainty.

WHAT CAN YOU LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH?

A webinar by Jim Storr, author of Something Rotten: Land Command in the 21st Century (where he critiques the command systems of western armed forces, arguing that they are overly complex and ineffective).

A Think.Fight.Learn.Repeat. episode featuring Lieutenant General (Retired) Ben Hodges, the former Commanding General of US Army Europe (2014-2017). He currently serves as NATO Senior Mentor for Logistics and is a Distinguished Fellow with GLOBSEC is co-author of the book, Future War and the Defence of Europe, published by Oxford University Press.

Until next time, you can catch the latest updates from Fight Club International on X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, YouTube, and Discord. Also make sure to play one of our analogue games!

Remember to think, fight, learn, repeat!

Yours in hex,

Rwizi.
